We've got the answersARE ALL THE CLASSES HOT + HEATED?
Definitely not! Circle Studios offers two yoga studio spaces for HOT YOGA and NON-HEATED YOGA to serve a wide range of tastes with up to 40 classes a week. The CIRCLE ROOM is our beautiful non-heated yoga and workshop space and offers a variety of classes including kids yoga, aerial yoga, yin yoga, kundalini yoga and meditation classes. Visit the Circle Room to read more and see our full non-heated yoga schedule.
All yoga classes are included as part of a yoga membership with Circle Studios, except Kids Yoga classes, Aerial Yoga + all workshops which are sold separately.
HOW OFTEN SHOULD I ATTEND CLASS?
All classes, hot or not, are safe practice to do daily. As long as you are hydrating well and replenishing your minerals, the body will flourish with a regular practice. It is recommended to do 3 classes minimum a week to receive the maximum benefits. Each class will build on the next and you will feel stronger with increased flexibility, balance, focus and heat tolerance from a consistent practice.
When we come sporadically the yoga still brings tremendous benefit, however the work happens slower. If you want to see change in your body, mind and spirit, challenge yourself to try a regular practice for 1 month and see how you feel by the end. Guaranteed, you will crave more of the yoga and the well being that it brings!
WHATS THE RIGHT PACKAGE FOR ME?
At Circle Studios we offer a wide range of package options for you to be able to find the best package to suit your yoga schedule + budget.
Class Bundle Passes: If you are coming sporadically or 1-2 times a week max than a class bundle pass is the best price per class for you. Any of these bundle passes will give you the flexibility to use up the classes within a 1 year period.
Unlimited Yoga Memberships: These unlimited memberships are best if you are coming 3 or more times weekly to class. HYDRATION + ELECTROLYTES
Hydrating the body is essential for all the basic metabolic activity and is an important source of natural minerals. Without it our internal tissues and systems suffer. Our body is made of over 60% water and drinking plenty of water throughout the day promotes a healthy, properly functioning body.
Water Intake: Taking in enough water can be one of the largest challenges for beginners. It is recommended that we consume 2-3, even 4 liters of clean filtered water daily depending on your level of activity. Keep in mind that caffeine dehydrates and many fruit drinks + soft drinks contain high amounts of sugar, colour and other chemical additives; for health and hydration it’s best to minimize the intake of these drinks. Many of us are chronically dehydrated and don’t realize until we start sweating in the hot room. What a great thing to get in touch with! It is not enough to drink water during class, the body needs time to absorb the water and make it available for all your cells and for your cooling system- sweat. Drink water through-out your day to stay hydrated.
Sweating is an important part of the hot yoga therapy- so let the sweat drip off the skin without toweling or wiping it away. The sweat will evaporate naturally and this cools your body temperature down, so you don’t overheat. Bring a bottle of water with you to sip during class and to reload afterwards. Hydrate, hydrate, hydrate!
Signs of dehydration include headache, dizziness, fatigue and cramping. This often means the body is low in hydration as well as essential minerals.
Electrolytes are the essential minerals integral to the body’s basic cellular activity and are dissolved in the body’s fluids, these include: calcium, chloride, magnesium, potassium and sodium. As we sweat in class, these electrolytes are being flushed out of the body and it is essential that we replenish them on a daily basis to support stamina, performance and recovery. You can make your own electrolyte drink with fresh lemon, sea salt and honey. Also coconut water is a great source of naturally occurring electrolytes and is sold at the studio.
HEALING, PAIN + ALIGNMENT
In yoga we focus on the form or technique of the yoga postures as a therapeutic practice for your body. It is perfectly alright to come to class if you are dealing with chronic or acute pain (with doctor approval when applicable). Just move slowly and listen to your body.
There is a difference between the pain of stretching/opening your body to a healthy threshold and the pain of injury. This healing “pain” is an indication that you have reached the point of maximum benefit, where you are encouraging growth and change. Moving slowly and with awareness of the form, it will be easy to distinguish between the two sensations. If you ever feel the hurt pain, please ease up on your depth and come back to a comfortable position. As you develop a relationship with your body through yoga class, you will notice the sensations move and shift as the yoga works its way into all the nooks and crannies of the body. You’ll find that you will have to explore deeper to find that same healthy threshold.
Remember to speak with your instructor before class to remind them of any injuries you have.
TOWEL + MAT SERVICES
Tired of caring all that stuff around?! Circle Studios offers monthly towel and mat services for your ultimate convenience. For $20 /month you will receive two towels (class + shower) every time you come for class. For $20 /month you can store your yoga mat at the studio. We have a great system to organize the mats: Simply spray and hang it to dry and our staff will roll your mat and have it waiting for you next time you’re in. Combine the two services with any package for only $40/month.
