Meet our teachers
Creative Director/Owner + Yoga Teacher
Hi! I’m Melanie Lourenco, creative director and owner of Circle Studios Yoga + Art. This space came to life inspired by a need to expand the yoga studio model outside of adult only yoga spaces to embrace the many facets of well-being through movement, creative expression, body/energy work and mental health for all ages.
I have a degree in Fine Arts from Queen’s University and have been an artist all my life, exploring creativity as an important tool for personal growth. I have been teaching yoga since 2008 and have extensive training in The Original Hot Yoga method originally with the Bikram Yoga College (500H), and studying with Evolation Yoga (200H). I have trained in Aerial Yoga with Suzanne Hennig, creator of the Zero-Gravity Method and with Margie Pargie in the Aerial Yoga Goddess Method and have been a student of Ayurveda since receiving certification in Abhyanga Massage in India 2011.
Connecting with people and witnessing the positive impact of mindful movement + creative wellness practices in their lives is one of the greatest blessings of this life! I look forward to meeting you and being of service on your journey.

My interest in alternative health methods began many years ago when I was facing challenges with my own health and happiness and was witnessing others going through similar situations. I looked to yoga, holistic nutrition, and the power of nature to find my way back to a state of peace.
I began practicing Kundalini Yoga in 2012 which led me to become a certified Kundalini Yoga Instructor in 2017. Kundalini Yoga has helped me develop my confidence, self-worth, and understanding of life. It’s a way for me to balance myself mentally, physically, and emotionally while giving me the spiritual connection I have always longed for. Kundalini Yoga has also helped me to become much more aware of myself and the patterns I create in my life and I am very grateful to have the opportunity to help others do the same.
Stacey Harris started practicing yoga at an authentic yoga studio called Shakti in the small town of Chatham. Her passion for yoga started to grow after realizing the benefits of yoga mentally, physically and spiritually. It was inspiring to find peace and contentment on the mat in such a fast paced Society. Stacey had the desire to travel to the Himalayas in India to study different asanas, mantras, breathing exercises, meditation techniques and visualization skills. Stacey resided in an Ashram in Rishikesh, India in 2014. She obtained her certificate to teach holistic Akhanda Yoga and returned to Shakti to teach until 2016.
Stacey decided to move to Hamilton to continue her career as a Social Worker, attend McMaster University for addiction studies and pursue additional yoga training. She has a passion to continue learning to expand her knowledge and skills to strengthen her practice and teach others. She is currently enrolled into another 200 hour flow yoga teacher training. Stacey has found yoga can be healing for many individuals that struggle with addictions, anxiety and other stressful events. Stacey enjoys teaching her students to stay in the present moment and breathe to dive into deeper self-reflection to find inner peace. Stacey also enjoys practicing doga during her free time with her puppy named Santosha. She has mastered downward dog.
Chris is a movement educator. Curiosity is what brought Chris into his first yoga class. That curiosity marked the beginning of an ongoing journey and passion for the practice of yoga and a profound desire to deepen that relationship. Chris is currently studying the Ashtanga Yoga method. With persistence, mindfulness and dedication, one’s yoga practice can only strengthen and grow deeper. In 2015, Chris embarked on two separate trip to Mysore, India to study with R.Sharath Jois and Saraswathi Rangaswamy at KPJAYI (Krishna Pattabhi Jois Ashtanga Yoga Institute), the source of Ashtanga yoga. In 2018, Chris completed his fourth trip studying at the Shala with Paramaguru Sharath Jois.
Chris is a certified Functional Range Conditioning Movement Specialist (FRCms) under Dr. Andreo Spina and continues to work with Head FRC & Kinstretch Master Instructor, Dana John Heimbecker. In 2018, Chris completed the Kinstretch Instructor training in the Functional Range Systems under Dewey Neilson and is currently completing the certification. He is also studying the art of hand balancing under renown circus performer and coach, Nicolas Montes de Oca and handbalance legend, Yury Bozyan. Chris is also a second degree Reiki practitioner.
In 2017, Chris began his studies in contemporary Pilates (Mat & Reformer) with esteemed Pilates educator; Leslie Parker of Mindful Movement Centre and also completed the Yoga Tune Up Level 1 Teacher Training created by Jill Miller. To date, Chris has completed 14 trainings and continues his studies daily in yoga, Pilates, Biomechanics and physiology.
To Chris, yoga is not something to “excel” at but rather about cultivating contentment, compassion, mindfulness, self acceptance and bringing awareness into the body. Yoga has transformed his life on and off the mat. As a teacher, he aspires to help others find a santosha (contentment) and a deeper connection to themselves.
Hot Yoga Teacher
Inferno Hot Pilates Teacher
My name is Jackie Brown and my healing journey began in 2007 in an effort to heal discomfort caused by early onset of osteoarthritis, aches and pains from a car accident, years of running, endless hours in the event and restaurant industry and back surgery. I was in search of a more physical holistic approach to build strength and avoid further surgeries. I was immediately drawn to the benefits of Bikram yoga but found myself craving other workouts but found most of them difficult with all my aches, pains and injuries. Then I was magically introduced to Inferno Hot Pilates in June 2017. Great! It’s a HOT HIIT style class but without all the jumping and jarring movements I found so painful. You work all parts of your body, it’s in the heat (my favourite) and there is a modification for everything… so no excuses. So after taking 3-4 classes a week for almost a year I took the plunge and completed teacher training in May 2018. I believe in and love this class and if I can do it with my old broken body so can you, so join me and be the best you, you can be!!!
For me, yoga is so much more than a physical practice. I am continually amazed by the uplifting power of sound, the capacity of consciously directed breath and the benefit of meditation.
Yoga shows me who I am while expanding my container to be with and love my shadow side. As a recovering perfectionist, yoga is my daily call to accept, love and empower my authentic self.
My goal is to offer up an inviting space to develop a relationship with our true Self through movement, breath, sound, stillness and love.
Outside of facilitating Woman’s Circles, Reiki Healing, teaching Kundalini Yoga, singing and playing the Harmonium, I enjoy hiking and exploring our great mother, co-creating community, gardening, dancing, studying astrology, painting and cooking mindfully prepared food.

I am a certified Yoga Instructor 200 RYT, I have been instructing yoga for over 8 years, I studied under Barb Leese in Oakville. I have since gone on to get my certification in Reflexology, and become a Reiki Master, both of these services are offered at Circle Studios on Monday’s!
I am extremely passionate about Yoga, sharing my knowledge of the practice with my students, and continually learning as a student of the practice as well.
In 2017 I was honoured to be voted Hamilton’s best Yoga Instructor, through the Hamilton Spectator. To receive votes by my students , was a reward in itself.
I want this practice to be for everyone, I am here to give modifications, and alternatives to poses, so that all body types can benefit from yoga. I love the idea of helping people heal, to calm their minds, have confidence and find strength in their bodies, it gives me great joy, this is why I became a teacher. I am a big believer in community, that is why I was drawn to yoga in the first place, and I am thrilled to be a part of The Circle studios community!
I found my practice after I was badly injured in a car crash, and was searching for a different way to work out that didnt hurt. I had been practicing yoga for about eight years before I found Buti to help with flexibility and stability as a martial artist, but I never took it as anything more. Buti not only healed my injuries, it healed my soul, and opened me up to gain the confidence and connection to my body to be the person I was supposed to be. In addition, practicing the Buti lifestyle helped me put two autoimmune diseases into remission naturally and I was able to stop medication. Through Buti, I am sharing and teaching natural healing processes of the mind and body, and bringing tribe members together.

Hi guys, I’ve been practicing Bikram yoga for the last 5 years and I want to share my love of the practice with you. I come from a background playing team sports, professional racquetball and jet ski racing at the highest level, and this practice has changed my life. People always say I’m not flexible enough to do yoga, and my answer is if you have two legs and two arms, be grateful and start practicing yoga, you’re never to old or inflexible to start Bikram, it’s meant for beginners and you go at your own pace.
I’ve put a lot of miles on my body and I began to experience aches and pains from my back to my knees and my feet. The Bikram practice helped me with those physical issues and it enables me to keep my flexibility and strength as I get older. I work full time helping youth find jobs and on my spare time you will find me teaching or in a Bikram yoga class sweating my butt off. Come sweat with me today and look forward to meeting you at Circle Studios!

Hi ! I’m Emma. I am a student, a teacher, and a lover of learning. I am a Canadian currently living out of Buffalo, NY, and I couldn’t be more in love with the community and support that has surrounded me here. My goal is to bring people together, to create deeper connection and to support people in their brave quest to find their most authentic, human, Self. I have trained as a D1 track and field athlete for the previous 6 years at the University at Buffalo, where I met humans (coaches, friends, mentors) who have forever changed me.
After graduating with my M.A. in Philosophy and competing in what I knew was my final track and field competition, I took my yoga teacher training in Buffalo with Evolation and my profound interest in human experiences, (what it’s like to be in a body, to BE a body, what it means to be human, how we express emotion, how we “cope”, why we need to- to name a few examples), was ignited in a new way, revealing a new path before me. My certainty, purpose, and exponential curiosity has never felt so blazing, and I am blessed and humbled to be bringing energy and love to this beautiful city and the humans who call it home. I can’t wait to share intention, space, and love with all of you. See you on the mat <3
It’s not the story that’s important but rather the journey. Please think of my words as a way to inspire you to take your physical and mental well-being in your own hands. To invest in the most precious thing that you have…yourself.
It was (bliss or miracle) to find yoga at the hardest time of my life. Suffering from work-related health problems, emotional distress, and overall exhaustion; my quality of life was rapidly deteriorating as years passed and the grind of daily activity took its toll. Even conventional medicine wasn’t enough to provide complete relief. This inspired me to look for alternative ways to deal with my challenges.
The energy and positive atmosphere at Circle Studios Yoga + Art (yes! It all started here) became my retreat from everyday challenges. Understanding of my own body, and yoga as a tool to heal, combined with persistence started to manifest miracles. Inspired by my own results from several years of practice, I decided to dedicate myself in learning to teach yoga completing 2 training totaling 8 weeks….here I am offering my help to you on your journey to a better version of yourself.
Each time I enter The Studio, I anticipate the joy of having the opportunity to guide you through your journey, as well as practicing next to you on my own mat. Believe me the learning never ends, we simply keep building on the foundation.
Come to our studio; find yourself and your own freedom. Find freedom from pain, physical limitations, and negativity. Here you are a valuable member of a community of like-minded people always ready to support, sympathize, and encourage you to improve.
Yoga Inspired Me To Grow Wings! See you on your mat.

Aerial Yoga, Power Vinyasa Yoga
Hi there! My introduction to yoga was during my university years at McMaster University (Honours Bachelor of Commerce Degree) and the practice fulfilled my physical needs at that time.
In the years that followed however, I struggled to find a teacher or studio that seemed like the right fit for me until I attended my first Power Yoga Class in 2014 and everything fell into place. This practice fulfilled all my physical, emotional and mental needs and opened up my life to a whole new way of being. With a desire to expand my knowledge, I completed my 200 hour Power Vinyasa Yoga Teaching Certificate (Baron Baptiste philosophy) in 2016.
With a curious spirit, I completed the Zero Gravity Aerial Teaching Certificate in January 2018 (at Circle Studios), which brings a new level of fun and creativity to my practice and teaching.
I am honoured to be part of the welcoming space at Circle Studios and I look forward to sharing the beauty of yoga with you! Meet you on your mat ?
I found yoga in the summer of 2014. My chiropractor had recommended on numerous occasions over a period of years that I take up yoga for tight hips and neck pain. I finally gathered up the courage to go and try one of her classes and I was immediately hooked. That one class immediately led to 3-4 times a week of practice which turned into a daily practice not long after.I have studied a variety of yoga styles over the past few years. I have certification in Traditional Hatha/Vinyasa, Forrest Yoga, Yin and Restorative. I am very drawn to the Classic 84 practice and Bikram style in which I have also been studying and have completed Jedi Fight Club Training. My favourite styles of yoga to teach are Classic Hatha and Vinyasa, in which students will find a very unique blend of both Jedi Fight Club and Forrest Yoga methods. Be prepared to be taken out of your comfort zone in my workshops and classes, as well as come with an open mind to some unique ideas and methods you don’t see in the everyday yoga class
